Religious Orders and Societies on this page are either sanctioned by a specific ISM denomination or may be independently-governed bodies, often under the care of an abbot-bishop. Some communities are ecumenical; some are open only to membership for those who follow specific traditions (Old Catholic, Traditionalist Catholic, Anglican Continuum, etc.); some are open only to members of specific jurisdictions. To be included here an Order or Society must be Sacramental in practice, and honor the apostolic tradition. Orders, like denominations, will range from traditional to progressive, conservative to liberal, and from visionary to esoteric. Additionally, these communities - and by extension, their members - do not have formal standing as Religious within any of the mainline Apostolic bodies (Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican Communion). Representation on this website does not constitute endorsement--the information provided here is as a courtesy.
Note: this page does not include the number of Chivalric Orders associated with various ISM groups.
